Nathanial J Pines (Jim), of Cape Coral, lost his battle with bladder cancer on April 27, 2017. He was born in Mt Clemens, MI on October 22, 1959 to David and Dorothy Pines.
Jim graduated in 1978 from Southfield High School in Southfield, MI and attended Northwestern College in Traverse City, MI where he earned his Associates degree in Marine Engineering in 1981. He joined the Department of State/Foreign Service in 1996 as a Facilities Manager following many years in private industry. His postings included Manila, Philippines, Seoul, South Korea, Jakarta, Indonesia, San Salvador, El Salvador, and Washington, DC in OBO as area manager, Kabul Afghanistan, London, UK, and back to Washington, DC in OBO for his final tour as an area manager for AF. Over a 20 year career, Jim was passionate about his job, mentored colleagues and helped his staff achieve their goals and elicit the best from them. Jim will be remembered for his caring attitude, his warmth, wit, intellect, and passion for life.
Jim was a caring and loving husband and father who cherished his responsibilities to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie and forever admired and loved by his four children, Nicholas, Michael and Matea of Seattle, Washington, and Grace a student at University of South Florida Tampa. He also leaves behind his parents David and Dorothy Pines, and a brother Louis Pines of California and many wonderful and caring friends and family around the world.
