Robert Harmer

On Friday, July 29th, 2022, Robert Elswood Harmer, age 85, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior. Bob was a loving husband to Rose for 49 years. Father to Sandra (Frank), Joanne (Charles), Nancy, and Michael (Shelle). Papa to Katelynn, Matthew, Hannah, Caleb, Micaela, and Christin. Brother of Pauline (Ron), Carol (Howard), and David (Dianne). Predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Clara, sister, Evelyn, and granddaughter, Charlsey. Born in Kitchener, Ontario, he grew up enjoying motorcycling, sporty cars and his speedboat. He was a Master Plumber who, after moving to Cape Coral began a plumbing and A/C business with his brother Dave. In 1995, Bob received a diagnosis of ALS, but instead of resigning himself to a few more years of life, he and Rose sold their home and began travelling. God blessed them with 22 wonderful years on the road. The Harmer family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the incredible care Bob received from their many supportive caregivers, friends and church family, Hope Hospice, The Lighthouse Cape Coral, and the nursing staff at Lee Memorial Hospital. In keeping with his wishes, Robert will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly of God, the chapel building located at 6950 Bayshore Road, North Ft. Myers, on Tuesday August 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow across the road at 7101 Bayshore Road.
