Martha Ellen Shafer

Martha Ellen Shafer passed away at her home in Cape Coral on Monday, September 17, 2018. She was born on November 9, 1942 in Detroit, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, William B. Fleck and Vera Fleck, her husband, Ronald W. Shafer, son, William D. Shafer and her sister, Margaret (Beth) Avila. She is survived by 4 daughters, Debra Shafer of Beulah, MI, Barbara (Patrick) Meredith of Middlebrook, VA, Kimberly (Brett) Euchenhofer of Tacoma, WA and Dawn Shafer of Bonney Lake, WA. She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Forst, Mary (Harry) Ruzgerian, Patricia (Mark) Ladesich, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Marty married her husband (Ron) of 51 years on January 21, 1961. She worked for Michigan National Bank in Oakland and Wayne Counties in Michigan before retiring to Cape Coral in September of 1994. She volunteered her time at the Edison/Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers for several years. Marty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cape Coral and was also employed there for several years. She enjoyed reading, spending time with family, crafting, playing bingo and going to the casino.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00PM, followed by a reception luncheon at the First Baptist Church of Cape Coral at 4117 Coronado Parkway Cape Coral, FL 33904.
