James Richard Burleigh (Jim), 84, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side in Cape Coral, Florida on June 14, 2019. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on April 1, 1935 and grew up with siblings, Wesley and Sharon.
He was preceded in death by parents, Basil and Anne Burleigh.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Marr (Shirl Girl); three children Steven W. Burleigh, (Carol) Lori A. Sanders, (Steve) Jennifer L Honeycutt (David-Hillbilly); as well as grandchildren: Tyler Gray, Stormy Milton, Ashley Gray, Jenna Lawton and Trevor Rowe; and 7 great grandchildren.
Jim was a proud American and a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War.
He was a husband, father, grandfather of many talents. Jim was an Engineer, Mechanic, Artist, musician playing piano, guitar and harmonica, writer, singer and poet.
He became a farmer in 1972 and purchased a 60-acre working farm in Lawton, Michigan. He and Shirley accomplished his lifelong dream and purchased a small hardware store, “Texas Corners Hardware” in Texas Corners, Michigan. James also lived in Hawaii, North Carolina and retired in Florida.
His favorite quote was: “It is what it is” and “There are only three things you need in life: aspirin, duct tape and WD-40.”

Cremation has taken place and per Jim’s wishes there will be no services.
