Dominic Michael Caprara (Nick)
Born August 3, 1937 to Ernesto and Maria Caprara in Norwalk, Ohio. He was the first of this branch of the Caprara family born in America. His brother, Alberto, immigrated from Italy with their parents. Nick graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956. He was senior class president and center for the Trucker’s Championship Football Team and a member of the National Honor Society. He joined the US Coast Guard where he served in the Pacific. Honorably discharged, he started his career as a Policeman for the City of Mayfield Heights, Ohio in 1960. He graduated from the FBI Academy in the 145 Session, in 1986. Nick retired as Chief of Police for the City of Mayfield Heights in 1992. His love of the water led him to join The Lake County Yacht Club, then The Westlake Yacht Club. He served as The Commodore for both clubs. He was also a member of The Greater Cleveland Boating Association, where he served as The Commander in 1989. Retired, he moved to West Virginia where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his ATV. The call of the water led him to move to Florida, finally settling in Cape Coral in the Camelot Condominiums with his wife, boat, and wonderful neighbors. He was a founding member of The Camelot Men’s Choir.
Dominic is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Caprara; Patricia Hughes Caprara, mother of his children; his Son Michael Dominic Caprara (Mike), his wife, 2 daughters, their husbands, and two Great Grandsons; His Daughter Patricia Nicole (Nikki) Caprara; His Stepson, John Raliegh Pierce, His wife and three sons; His Sister in Law, Patricia Caprara (Alberto’s Widow) and several Nieces and Nephews.
Covid 19 restrictions have delayed burial, which is scheduled for October 16, 2020 in All Souls Cemetery, 10366 Chardon Road-Route 6, Chardon, Ohio 44024 at 1:00 pm in Section 24.
